Gone to the Dogs 3K Scramble

Saturday, March 22, 2008 - 11 a.m.

Brian and RugbyGone to the Dogs has always been our favorite spring race.  Both dogs and humans in America are dying, literally, for lack of exercise.  Here’s a chance to bring your pooch along for a brisk walk or brisker run through the prairie and woods, crossing two creeks and working your thighs on the hills.

Normally we don’t ask that dogs be leashed on the Commons, believing that canines deserve a chance to chase rabbits, squirrels, and field mice like their ancestors did. But for practical reasons, bring your pooch on a short leash for a romp through the grass and trees for a little under 2 miles, and enjoy a dogpower assist on the steep ascent.

This year’s race will be a benefit for the Helping Hands Humane Society of Topeka.  We’re suggesting a donation of $10, and more if you are moved, payable at the starting line.  Refreshments will be available at the finish for all species.

Just to help us plan, please email totoiliff@cox.net or call 357-1854 to let us know you’re coming.

Prize: For the lead dog (human still attached) a trophy and picture on the web site. For the first three humans, a medal.

Note: KSHSAA approved for all high school track and field athletes if attached to a dog.
